Root Canal Treatments

root canal

When a tooth is damaged irreversibly, then the tissue at the center of the tooth, called the pulp, dies This often happens due to trauma to the tooth or as a part of the disease process. Sometimes, some dental procedures may also warrant a need to carry out root canal treatment before the secondary procedure is carried out. After the death of the tooth, if this situation is left as it is, it can lead to pain and infection.

The treatment for this is called Root Canal Treatment. The remnants of the damaged nerve tissue are removed and the canal system cleaned. The cleaning procedure involves both a mechanical and a chemical component. Then the root canals are filled and sealed, the tooth is eventually crowned or covered in some way to protect it from any breakages. Once this is done, the tooth normally returns to health and can be used as a normal tooth.

The system we use at the surgery is called WaveOne Gold, it is the latest one file system and helps make the root canal process more predictable and more gentle. We have the latest equipment available for this procedure, all to ensure we get the best results possible.
